We're Soarin' Now

Monday. May 23. Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Gray Shirts.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comWe started out the day at Epcot. We waited in line for almost an hour to see the new ride Soarin' that is a copy of the original from California Adventure. One word -- AWESOME! I'm so glad that I snagged fastpasses before we waited in the standby line. This allowed us to do the ride another time before we left the park with only about a 10 minute wait. The ride is so realistic. We would've loved to ride it more than twice.

After Soarin', we ate lunch at The Electric Umbrella. It was pretty good for your basic burgers and fries. Next, Jake and I decided to ride Mission Space because the standby line was only 20 minutes. I know, it was crazy to go on Mission Space right after eating! However, neither of us had any problems during or after it. It's really an amazing ride! After Mission Space, we
went into our favorite Ice Station Cool and tasted all the different coke products from around the world. There is always someone tricking someone into drinking that nasty Beverly drink from Italy. I really can't believe that someone actually buys that stuff. It says that it's supposed to stimulate the appetite. Um, yeah, I'd eat anything to get that taste out of my mouth. Blech.

We left Epcot just in time to get to Magic Kingdom for dinner at The Liberty Tree Tavern. It was deja' vu because this is the second time that Jake and I have had to almost run to make our PS for Liberty Tree. Eddy and Katie made it right after they called for us. Liberty Tree is probably our favorite character dinner. The food is served family style and the roast beef is very good. The restaurant is so nice and cool. There is always plenty of room and the characters here seem friendlier than any other place we've been. However, dinner was not uneventful. Jake had a nose bleed during the meal and missed Minnie Mouse the first go round. I'm so glad the characters come around 3 or 4 times during your meal. There was a special character handler
that made sure Jake was okay. She was so sweet and really exhibited a love for people as well as for her job. I had to take her picture so that we would remember her.

After dinner, we went to Toon Town Jake and Eddy rode Goofy's Barnstormer while Katie and I visited Mickey and Minnie's houses. We went to the judges tent and were able to meet Mickey Mouse, too. I always feel like a giant standing next to The Mouse.

An hour before the SpectroMagic parade, we snagged good seats on the curb just in front of Cinderella's Castle. It's amazing how far ahead you have to get the good spots! We were tired and didn't mind resting a bit. The parade was wonderful and after it ended we had a good spot for Wishes fireworks, too. Wishes is probably the best firework show I've ever seen.

After deciding to ride Splash Mountain one more time before we left the park, we raced through Liberty Square and Frontierland and found the standby wait to be five minutes at Splash. Yeah! Riding Splash in the dark is so incredible. It's like a totally different ride! There's nothing so deceiving as when you first see Cinderella's castle and Space Mountain as your log makes its way out over the edge. You think all is wonderful with the world and then there's that big drop! Splash! Wow, it's a long, wet, way down to the bottom. It's the truth, it's actual!

As day four came to a close we had seen the whole world and we were tired.

Whew.
