Goin' Around the World: A Tour of Disney Transportation

Tuesday. May 24. Magic Kingdom/DtD/Epcot. White Shirts.

Since we did almost everything we had wanted to do in Magic Kingdom, we really didn't need to go there. However, the PhotoPass photographer didn't get the castle in our picture on Friday and we had to revisit MK and get another photo taken. I'm very thankful that we were able to pull up the pictures online and check them before we left.

We drove to the TTC today to try out our AAA parking pass and took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Wow, was Magic Kingdom crowded today! When we arrived last Friday, the crowds were pretty light. However, I assume that they started picking up this week due to the upcoming Memorial Day holiday. We only stayed long enough in MK long to enjoy some
streetmosphere on Main Street, get our family photo made, take some other photos, let the kids trade some pins in The Emporium, and take one last look at that castle! Each time I get ready to take that last look, I try to make mental notes of all the sights, sounds, and smells of Magic Kingdom: sounds of children laughing and music playing, and smells of popcorn, hotdogs, and sunscreen. The sights are easier to remember through photos. That's why we take so many digital pictures. Sure, we'll probably never print all 1500+ digital prints from each trip, but the memories live on through them on my screen saver, and it keeps them alive until we return to make new ones.

After the quick trip to the MK, we took the ferry to
Wildnerness Lodge. I have always wanted to see it and we were glad we stopped by. The interior of the Lodge is incredible with all the exposed beams and the waterfall. We would really like to stay there one day. After looking around WL, we took the bus from there to Downtown Disney. The bus was almost empty and the A/C was working very good. We had a nice rest on the long trip to DtD.

At
DtD, we ate a great lunch at the Earl of Sandwich in DtD.
They are on the dining plan, so we used 4 of our remaining 8 counter service meals there. We found the
Everthing Ten Dollars and Under store and bought some grab bags and other goodies. At last we arrived at our favorite store, World of Disney. If you've been there, you know why it's so wonderful. If you haven't been there, let's just say it's the Disney Store on steroids. They have everything you can imagine and we save the bulk of our souvenir money for shopping here. The kids did so good saving their money until we went to the WoD store. We get a 10% AAA discount there, so that was also a great incentive to wait until we got there. Before leaving DtD, we took the kids' pictures at the same spot with Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet that we had back in 2001. It's hard to believe how much they've grown.

After shopping, we took the bus to Pop Century and dropped off our packages at our room. Then we took the bus to Epcot. Image hosted by Photobucket.comEpcot was hosting the
International Flower and Garden Festival while we were there and there were many great topiaries and displays. I love topiaries, especially Disney toparies!

When we got to Epcot, we went straight to the World Showcase to the American Pavillion to see B.J. Thomas in the Flower Power concert. We arrived right after he started his first concert. The concert was only about 35 minutes long and we stayed for the second concert as well. We were glad we stayed for the second concert because he did a slightly different mix of songs for the second one and we got front row seats. He may be getting older, but his voice is still as wonderful as it was way back when.

After the concert, we strolled back around the right side of WS (USA to Canada). We were all tired and the kids really wanted to swim again at the pool, so we headed back to Pop Century. We took the
monorail back to the TTC and drove back to the resort. We used our last 4 counter service meals at the food court there and the kids and I swam for an hour or so before bed.

This was day five and the end of our trip. Once again, we had been there and done that. However, we've got more than a new t-shirt and various other souvenirs to show for it. We've got memories to last a lifetime and those are priceless!
