After I got over seeing the gates, and oohed and ahhed over Downtown Disney as we passed, the next big thing was seeing the Pop Century Resort sign. This was our third time at Pop, so the sight of the sign felt like we were coming home.
When we pulled into the resort, it was good to see that the seventies were back. No, we didn't get a room in the seventies again. You may remember my post last year about the hurricane taking down the 1970 sign out front. Well, it was back. That was a good sign. ;)
We check in and found out we were assigned rooms in the fifties. That was really swell. We bee-bopped on down to our room with all our stuff and then headed to Ft. Wilderness to the Hoop Dee Doo Review. We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and rode the Resort ferry to Ft. Wilderness. Carol and I were lucky enough to participate in the 1st Annual Ft. Wilderness Relay Race to Pioneer Hall. She took the first half and I carried us on in. Of course, we won the race and our thanks go out to the wonderful CMs for holding our seats and food for us. Speaking of food, it was sho' nuf good, and I typically don't eat ribs and fried chicken. I guess the race gave me an appetite. Good thing we had wipes; those ribs were messy.
Well, now I must talk about Cris' hat. Cris had it turned up all week (his look, not his hat) and tonight was no exception. Yes, the red head in the HDDR couldn't keep her eyes or hands off the guy. Cris, dude you are da bomb!
After a wonderful dinner and excellent entertainment (and the HDDR ain't bad, either), this time we all casually (thank goodness) walked back to the dock and caught the ferry back to Magic Kingdom. We were able to watch the Wishes fireworks before boarding the ferry and caught the Electrical Water Parade on the way back. Ah. Disney magic at its finest.
We stopped at Magic Kingdom for a few minutes and headed back on the bus to Pop. Day 1 had come to an end and the fun had only just begun!
