While cleaning out my closet tonight, I ran across a folder containing miscellaneous papers of mine from elementary school. My kids and I had a good laugh over the silly poems and drawings my mom had saved for me. However, the funniest thing we found was this drawing in a second grade writing tablet. It was the title page in a series of pages about Walt Disney World. It contained drawings of things I had experienced on my first trip to Disney World such as "cup and sacer", Magic Kingdom beach, fireworks, monorail, Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, and Country Bear Jamboree (which had its own page and was originally marked as my favorite thing and later crossed out).
A lot has changed since that first visit over thirty years ago, to me and to Walt Disney World. However, my love for the place is still the same as it obviously was back then. This proves that it's had a special place in my heart all along.
On a lighter note, this drawing does leave me with the following questions:
1) Were Mickey's ears that big back in 1972?
2) Was Teger (Tigger?) licensed by Disney back then? If not, maybe I had a premonition of some sort.
3) Smokey the Bear? Hmmmm. I really doubt that Disney ever licensed Smokey the Bear and obviously this wasn't a premonition. Maybe I saw Smokey the Bear on the trip down to Disney World. Yeah, that's it.
4) Where are the other princesses? Did I just like Snow White the best or was Disney just not pushing all the princesses yet?
Well, gotta go put this with my stuff I'm saving for my Disney nostalgia scrapbook. I'm so glad my mom saved this 'cause it really proves that Disney has been a part of my life for a long, long time.
